Ruth Roman Lynch
Ruth Roman Lynch was born and educated in
Greenwood, Mississippi. She was raised by her grandparents Isom and
Myrtle Farmer. Ruth
is a product of the Mississippi Public School System. She
started her undergraduate training at Mississippi Valley State
University, one of the many great historically Black universities
in the United States.
Wife to Robert L. Lynch, the mother of two
daughters and a grandmother, Ruth attributes many of her accomplishments
to her family. Eldest
daughter, Zundra L. Bryant, is a magna cum laude graduate of
Howard University, 1994, and her sister, Leslie I. Carter, is
a cum laude graduate of Clark Atlanta University, 2004. Both
were educated in the public school system in several cities throughout
the United States, and are clearly her role models.
Ruth has a reputation of being very passionate
about the plight of our children, and, indeed, she has an obvious
abundance of intellect, wit, and compassion, but her boundless
energies are all kept in perfect balance by lateral thinking
and a great deal of common sense. Her drive to create
betterment for those members of the community with little or
no voice continues to be her core driving force. Ruth continuously
draws upon her experiences as a mother, executive, mentor, and
coach to many young people around the country.
Ruth believes in her community. Currently, Ruth is the
chairperson for Women’s Advocacy: the Majority/Minority,
WAMM, chair emeritus for the African American Women Chamber
of Commerce, and sits on the board of the Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Broward County Advisory Board, United States Hispanic Contractor's
Association Board and the board of Minority Development and
Empowerment, Inc., MDEI, an organization designed
to help the Haitian and Caribbean communities transition
into the mainstream American society. In July,
Ruth became a new board member for Leadership Broward Foundation, where
she will assume the role of Secretary on the Executive Leadership
Board in June 2006. She served as Chair on the advisory
board for Auburn University African American Entrepreneurship
Summit for five years. Ruth served on the advisory board
for Grand Affairs Productions, a not for profit organization
that benefit at-risk youth and breast cancer research. She
served as spokesperson on the Diversity Committee for District
196, School Board, Apple Valley, MN for several years. She
was also a devoted Board member of MYSELF, INC., Making Youth
Successful Employing Lifestyle Formulas. She served on
the board of Broward Coalition for the Homeless in 2004.
Ruth developed and successfully managed the
Diversity/Emerging Markets Program for Vanguard Car Rental
USA Inc. from 1997 to 2004. Her leadership earned her elected representation
on the prestigious Airport Minority Advisory Council, AMAC,
Board of Directors. This highly visible position
was a first for the car rental and construction industries. Ruth
was also a member of the Emerging Bankruptcy Team for Vanguard
Car Rental after 9/11 and is proud to report that the company
enjoyed a positive emergence. The Broward County
Commission, deemed December 9, 2002 as ‘Ruth Carter’s (
Lynch) appreciation day’ and awarded Ruth a Proclamation
for spearheading and facilitating the Airport Minority Advisory
Council's 8th Annual Economic Forum; another first, this time,
for both Broward and the AMAC organization. One of her very significant
accomplishments was the development of the first minority transportation
vendor, CAC Services, Inc., a Chicago-based corporation that
received the first contract of its kind with National Car Rental
and Alamo Rent-A-Car for vehicle transport. This was the
first ever vendor partnership of this magnitude between a car
rental company and a minority vendor.
After 29 years of working in Corporate America,
Ruth left September 30, 2004 and started her own business,
R & R Business Solutions & Development,
Inc. R & R Business Solutions & Development’s
focus is; Diversity Facilitation & Training, Community Outreach
and Business Development to enhance the potential of minority
and women businesses. Ruth says, “Wealth creation
and education are the key elements of leveling the business community’s
playing field, everyone can achieve success. I don’t feel
that I can be successful without giving back to the community
and being inclusive in my entrepreneurial efforts.”
Ruth has a Bachelor of Science in Social
Science from Almeda University, life experiences degree. She has studied Behavioral
Sciences at National Lewis University, Chicago, Illinois, Business
Management, Maryville University, St. Louis, MO., Legal Assistant
Training, Sawyer College of Business, Los Angeles, CA and Biology/Psychology
studies at Mississippi Valley State University, Itta Bena, MS. Ruth
also has an MBA Certificate from St. Thomas University, Minneapolis,
MN. Ruth will receive her Certificate in Psychology
and Sociology from Stratford Career Institute, Washington, DC
in July 2006.
"Without continued education and life experiences, there is no growth." Ruth
